Bear Gifts

Bears are mammals of the family Ursidae. Common characteristics of modern bears include a large body with stocky legs, a long snout, shaggy hair, plantigrade paws with five nonretractile claws, and a short tail. While the polar bear is mostly carnivorous and the giant panda feeds almost entirely on bamboo, the remaining six species are omnivorous, with largely varied diets including both plants and animals. With the exceptions of courting individuals and mothers with their young, bears are typically solitary animals.

Teddy Bear

For over one hundred years we have loved our teddy bears. They have been our best friend in difficult times as well as the good times. For many they have been a constant companion through thick and thin over long and many years. It really is easy to understand what makes teddy bears so special. I mean, look that cute little guy. He is adorable and he loves you! How could anyone resist that?

Teddy bears have been there for people when they were sick, confused, in pain, lonely, heartbroken and depressed. They are a staple when it comes to childhood toys. Few babies make it to their first birthday without receiving a teddy bear as a gift.

For many of us that first teddy bear is a special teddy bear. However, because it is special it sometimes sees a lot of wear and tear. Some children would not consider sleeping without that special friend and others carry him with them wherever they go. The teddy bear becomes a bed-buddy and a playmate.

Some of us hang on to that bear for years to come. Of course he does get to retire from some of his duties. But our fondness for him never seems to die. A glance his way can bring a smile and a flood of memories. The value of having a constant in your life is priceless and a lovable teddy bear can provide that.

Teddy bears have been made into TV stars and heroes. They have been depicted as being wise and clever. But regardless of the bear they are all seen as lovable creatures. We have grown up with bears like Yogi and Winnie.

The Snuggle teddy bear is simply adorable. What a way to sell a product! Knowing our love for teddy bears I suppose they are the perfect way to promote a product, I think it is hard to resist something that we are so fond of.

Books and stories have been written that use bears to teach us morals and ethics, as well as simpler lessons like manners and good behavior. It seems that every story or show about teddy bears makes us forget that we are dealing with an animal (and one that is not real!) because they all have human qualities and characteristics.

I guess teddy bears are simply a part of our childhood that we never have to let go of. In our adult years that little creature can still bring us joy and comfort. In fact, some of those teddy bears can bring us some money because they are collectibles. But giving up your special teddy bear is not an easy thing to do. After all, he has been your loyal companion and friend.

Go hug your teddy bear!

For some of us our teddy bears have been a constant friend since early childhood. The value we place on that is priceless. Our teddy bears are dear to us because they are true friends!
